Compon X's powerful bio-computer has begun to malfunction and "X-Tra", aka the External Threat Recognition Attack System, shoots anything that moves. In fact, the computer accessed the nation's nuclear weapons countdown systems for a retaliatory strike. Since nuclear war could extinguish life on the planet, the player must enter the X-termination area of the complex and continue to fight through the central computer defenses.
X-Zone is a first person shooter game. The player must shoot the robotic enemies on the screen and the projectiles they launch at the player. Most levels end with a boss battle, which follows specific patterns and whose systems/weapons must be downed and destroyed individually.
