World Champ is a boxing game that has many similarities to Data East's Ring King. You can play in a single-player "Ranking" mode, where you can increase your boxer's stats while climbing the ranks to eventually fight for a championship in one of four weight classes. There's also a two-player versus mode where you and a friend can go head-to-head. A tournament mode allows up to 8 players to participate in a bracketed tournament.
The gameplay consists of each boxer moving around the ring trying to land punches, hooks and uppercuts. The objective is either to knock out your opponent for a count of 10 or to have the most points on the scorecard at the end of the allotted number of rounds.
