Wild West Shootout is a shooting gallery game for one or two players, with support for anaglyph 3D mode.

There are four game modes: Tutorial, Story, Wanted, and Two Player. Tutorial Mode is a target practice mode, where players shoot barrels, crates, jars, pots, and other objects. Story mode is the main game. Wanted is a boss rush mode and Two Player is a two player mode.

The story mode contains four chapters each divided into three parts, the chapters are Ranch, Indian Village, Canyon and Western Town. The levels contain typical Wild West settings: a barn, a bank, a train station, gold mines. In some levels, the player rides a horse or in a mine cart on rails. There is a double-barreled power-up and in some levels the player gets a Gatling gun. Throughout the levels there are cows and horses confined by a small wooden fence, shoot the fence to free the animals for bonus points. At certain points in the level, two or more arrows will appear on the screen and the player can choose a path by shooting an arrow.

The game had a cartoonish Wild West theme and was generally aimed at children. When enemies are downed, they simply disappear with a cloud of dust and leave behind a white surrender flag. There are culturally insensitive depictions of Native Americans, with big noses and battle cries.
