Wario World (Wario Wārudo?) is a platform video game developed by Treasure and published by Nintendo on GameCube. It was released in mid-2003 worldwide (and in 2004 in Japan). Wario, who is for the first time the main character in a home console game, must find the treasure that a black jewel stole from him.
The game was fairly well received by critics, who praised its gameplay but regretted its short lifespan. It also enjoyed fairly significant commercial success, which in 2004 earned it the Players' Choice label.
