Viking: Battle for Asgard is a hack 'n' slash video game developed by Creative Assembly and published by Sega, released in 2008 for Windows, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. In Viking: Battle for Asgard, the player takes control of Skarin, a Norse warrior recruited by Freya, goddess of war. He is the champion chosen to fight the goddess Hel, daughter of Loki, Norse god of mischief. She had been banished from Asgard, the realm of the Asgard gods after defying Odin's rule, and plans to unleash Fenrir, a wolf god said to bring about Ragnarok, an apocalypse that will bring down Asgard and the gods. The game takes place in the mortal world of Midgard.
