You are a star, a big name on everyone's lips. People all over the country love you and now is the time to take the next step in stardom. To become an international superstar, you must travel to Rockopolis, the Rock'n'Roll Capital of the World and win the hearts of fans all over the city.
Ultimate Band is somewhat similar to music games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band. To gain fans, the player must travel to multiple locations across Rockopolis and play gigs. On each site, the player can talk to fans about their preferences and then see songs play accordingly. The main game mechanic is divided into four different instruments, each with its own playing style; Lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass and drums. Notes fall from the top screen to the bottom screen, much like in any other musical game. If the instrument is a guitar or bass, the player must select the correct chords with the D-pad or face buttons (depending on left/right settings), then strum with the stylus when the notes hit the bar. strum. If the chosen instrument is the drums, the player must press the correct drum while the notes fall on the screen.
The more fan buzz the player earns, the more locations, songs, instruments, and samples are unlocked.
There is also a recording studio where the player can record a song by hand, and another recording studio for up to four players to simultaneously record a song together via Wi-Fi. The game can contain up to to 12 custom recorded songs and 12 jam sessions.
The songs presented in the game are all covers of more or less famous songs such as "Rock Lobster" by The B-52's, "Take Over, the Break is Over" by Fall Out Boy, "Whip It" by Devo and several others .
