Ultima VII: The Black Gate and Ultima VII: Serpent Isle are two video games published successively in 1992 then 1993, and constituting the seventh installment of the Ultima series of computer role-playing games. It begins the third so-called "Age of Armageddon" trilogy, which continues with Ultima VIII and IX.
Ultima VII was released in two parts, each constituting a game: The Black Gate in 1992 and Serpent Isle in 1993. Each of these parts has an extension, respectively Forge of Virtue and The Silver Seed. The game engine of both parts is almost identical.
The game is set in two parallel worlds - Britannia and Serpent Island - threatened by a malevolent third-dimensional entity. Among the many quests that the player can accomplish, the main one is to ward off this threat.
