Halloween Town is gearing up for this year's Halloween, and Jack Skellington is sure this one will be the best ever! However, Oogie Boogie has other plans - furious at not having a vacation, he orders Lock, Shock and Barrel to kidnap Jack so he can take his place as King of Halloween and claim the vacation for him. -even. Unfortunately, the trio kidnap Sally by mistake. Angered by their clumsiness, Oogie Boogie releases thousands of bugs into Halloween Town, sending the citizens into hiding. Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas: The Pumpkin King is an action-adventure game similar to Castlevania: Circle of the Moon. The game takes place before the movie The Nightmare Before Christmas, before Jack meets Santa Claus and Oogie Boogie. The game takes place in a gigantic overworld that Jack can explore. As he gains new weapons, such as the Frog Gun and Bat Boomerang, he can unlock new areas and gain access to more of the outside world. At the start of the game, he will also find his ghost dog, Zero, who can help him by finding secret areas and navigating small spaces.
The game also features three mini-games that can be played either against the computer or against up to three friends. There's 'Bone Breaker', where you have to be the first to smash the skeleton, 'Whack Hammer', where you have to smash as many rats and bats as possible, and 'Skulldigger', where you have to find the right box with a shrunken head.
