Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 is a simulation of the golf sport. Compared to version 08, the game lacks several game modes, including online multiplayer. To the left is the usual PGA Tour career mode and the EA Sports Cup. The latter consists of short three-hole courses.
With successful tournaments and achievements, the player receives experience and skill points which are used to improve the character's abilities. The player can choose between two clicks and True Swing controls: in the first case the player must click two respectively three times at the right moment to set the hitting conditions and in the second the player simulates the hitting movement with the stick analog. There are a total of 27 licensed players and 20 courses.
