The Spiderwick Chronicles is based on the movie of the same name. In this version, the player takes control of siblings Grace, Jared, Simon, and Mallory, each with their own unique abilities, as well as Thimbletack the Brownie who is short in stature can explore small passages on the Spiderwick mansion.
The gameplay consists of exploring the realm with their characters in a series of quests in search of ordinary objects such as pipe nozzles, solving puzzles, fighting mythical creatures such as trolls and goblins with new weapons unique to each character such as slingshots, baseball bats and water guns filled with vinegar. The player can also gain special abilities and replenish health by capturing fairies using a net of fairies that are scattered across the stages.
