Your old mentor Mordamir is missing - probably kidnapped. You're not quite sure where it is, but a dungeon is always a good place to search, so you seek out the closest one and dive into its depths. Warning: eight levels of traps and deadly enemies await you.
The Immortal is an isometric game with puzzle solving and action combat. Progress is made by encountering a hazard, dying, solving the problem, encountering the next hazard. To solve a level, you must know by heart its traps and their patterns. The puzzles range from simply avoiding traps to using items correctly; you collect items in an inventory. From time to time, the game offers a special challenge. For example, you have to ride a magic carpet through a corridor full of fire traps or ride a barrel down an underground river.
The dungeon is not empty: some friendly characters may have valuable information or exchange items, the bad guys will attack. The fight takes place man to man on a special screen. Your opponent indicates their next attack a few seconds before executing it, so you have time to react accordingly. You can dodge left or right, as well as attack from both directions. There is no save option in the game, but you can restart each level as often as you want. Levels can be skipped by entering passwords.
