Tales of Hearts R is an updated remake of the original Tales of Hearts, specifically the Anime Movie Edition. It features an overhauled combat system that puts more emphasis on speed, 3D graphics, full voice acting for the main story, bonus story content, and new playable characters: Chalcedony Akerman, a Commander of the Crystal Knights who was previously limited to an enemy role in the original, and Gall Gruner, a middle-aged man who wields an ax and machete and is exclusive to R.
