Survival Kids is presented in an action-RPG style similar to Link's Awakening. Players must try to survive each day by getting enough rest, eating food, and drinking water regularly. This can be risky, as some foods such as mushrooms can have various effects, including paralysis and poison, while other foods can rot and make you sick if eaten.

The game also features a unique "fusion" system, which allows you to create several different items by combining two other items. For example, combining bark and a stick would produce kindling, while using ivy with a curved stick could create a bow. There are many useless items that can be crafted in addition to the essential items, so it's up to the player to consider what might be useful in their quest for survival.
