Super Smash Bros. Melee, often shortened to SSBM or just Melee, known in Japan as Dairantō Smash Brothers DX, is a fighting game released for GameCube in 2001 and 2002. It is the sequel to Super Smash Bros., released for Nintendo 64 in 1999, and it was followed by Super Smash Bros. Brawl, released for Wii in 2008.

The game was developed by HAL Laboratory with Masahiro Sakurai heading production.
