Mario Smash Football (also known as Super Mario Strikers in Japan and the United States) is an arcade football (soccer) video game developed by Next Level Games and published by Nintendo for the GameCube. It was released in Europe and North America in late 2005 and in Japan and Australia in 2006. Mario Strikers Charged Football, the sequel to the game released for Wii, was also developed by Next Level Games. The game's developers had previously worked on the NHL series, which served as their influence for the physical and paced side of the game.
