Super Mario Kart (Sūpā Mario Kāto?) is a video game developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo, released in 1992 for Super Nintendo. This is a kart racing game between characters from the Super Mario universe. It is the first installment in the Mario Kart series of video games. The game was released in Japan in August 1992, in North America in September of that year, and in Europe in January 1993. Selling over eight million copies worldwide, it became the third best-selling game for Super Nintendo of all time. It was released on the Wii's Virtual Console on June 9, 2009 in Japan, November 23, 2009 in North America, and April 2, 2010 in Europe.
