Super Mario Galaxy 2 (Sūpā Mario Gyarakushī Tsū?) is a platform video game developed by Nintendo EAD Tokyo and published by Nintendo for the Wii. It was unveiled at E3 2009 and is the sequel to Super Mario Galaxy. It was released on May 23, 2010 in North America, May 27, 2010 in Japan, June 11, 2010 in Europe, July 1, 2010 in Australia, and January 20, 2011 in South Korea. It is the fifth three-dimensional platformer in the mainline Super Mario series, following Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, Super Mario 64 DS, and Super Mario Galaxy.

The story follows Mario in his pursuit through space of Bowser, who captures Princess Peach and takes over the Universe through stars. Mario will therefore have to travel to different galaxies to find these stars, then go to the center of the Universe in order to save the princess. The game was originally intended to be a simple improvement on Super Mario Galaxy, with few modifications and an estimated development time of one year. However, it was later decided that it would be a full-fledged sequel, and development ultimately took two and a half years. Compared to the first episode, dynamic environments, new power-ups and above all the possibility of riding Yoshi have been added.
