Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic (abbreviated KOTOR) is a role-playing video game developed by BioWare and published by LucasArts. From the Star Wars franchise, the game was released on September 11, 2003 for Xbox and December 5, 2003 for Windows and Mac OS.
The story takes place four millennia before the rise of the Galactic Empire, at a time when the Old Republic threatens to collapse, attacked head-on by an armada under the orders of the Sith Lord Darth Malak. The game follows the journey of a group of adventurers in the service of the Republic and the Jedi Order, who go in search of clues to the origin of the Sith threat.
