In StarTropics, you play as Michael Jones. Mike's uncle (Dr. Jones, a famous archaeologist) is on Island C looking for lost ruins and has invited Mike to visit. However, shortly after arriving on the island, Mike learns from Chief Coralcola that Dr. Jones has recently been kidnapped! Now it's up to Mike to locate Dr. Jones and find out why he was abducted.
StarTropics is an action game with light RPG elements, played from an aerial perspective. Starting with an island yo-yo, Mike will have to search the island for Dr. Jones. Villagers may be able to offer clues, there are plenty of dangerous enemies to defeat, and along the way there are a variety of new weapons and other items to find that will help Mike on his quest. The cartridge uses a backup battery to allow games to be saved.
