SHINING WISDOM (SEGA SATURN SS)

Several years after the events depicted in Shining Force II, an orphan named Mars begins his job as a caretaker at Odegon Castle. One night, a strange mist descends on the earth and Mars sees a mysterious elf enter the ancient sanctuary. Through a series of events and lies on his part, Mars becomes the princess's elite guard and must soon redeem himself by stopping the dark elf Pazort from destroying the world.

Shining Wisdom is the fourth game in the Shining series, but it is completely different from the others. Neither a turn-based dungeon crawl like Shining in the Darkness nor a tactical RPG like Shining Force, the game plays very similar to Zelda with its aerial exploration, action combat, and occasional puzzle solving. . The RPG elements are very light; the protagonist's health can be increased by finding HP bubbles, but there is no experience system of any kind. The game proceeds by collecting various items found in dungeons and then combining them with magic orbs to create different spell effects that can be used to battle enemies and solve the puzzles that must be solved to beat each maze.
