Rooms: The Main Building is the retail version of an old Korean free-to-play title from 2006. It is a sliding tile puzzle game with adventure elements, where the objective is to help an animated character to escape by connecting the rooms and creating a path to the exit door.
The player can only move a room/tile when the character is there. This character can move from one room to another, if there is no barrier between them. As in most games, the levels become more complex as the player progresses. The first levels have only a few rooms, but as the game progresses new elements are introduced: locked doors, walls to be destroyed with explosives, ladders, teleporters, flooded rooms that kill the character and rotating rooms . Sliding tile levels take place in four mansions, laid out like puzzle maps.
Mansions have chests that contain inventory items. These items are used in the separate adventure portion, where inventory puzzles must be solved to earn the four golden puzzle pieces needed to complete the game.
