Resident Evil, in Japan Bio Hazard (Baio Hazādo?), is a survival horror type action-adventure video game, developed and published in 1996 by Capcom on PlayStation then in 1997 on Saturn and Windows. In 1997, Capcom also released Resident Evil: Director's Cut, an uncensored version for the PlayStation which differed in particular by several changes to the game scenes.
A remake was released on GameCube in 20028. In 2006, Resident Evil was ported to Nintendo DS under the name Resident Evil: Deadly Silence. This latest version has two game modes, one faithful to the home console version, the other called "Renaissance mode", which uses the touch screen of the portable console.
