Prince of Persia: The Fallen King is set after the computer and console version of Prince of Persia (2008) and following the events of the base game and its DLC, Prince of Persia: Epilogue. After the Prince separates from Elika, he goes in search of the king of New Dawn City. There he finds a city engulfed in the same corruption and discovers that the king has been split by the corruption into two figures. The prince teams up with the king's mage, Zal, and together they face the forces of corruption while trying to save the kingdom.
All gameplay is done using a stylus, there is no alternate control scheme. Holding the stylus away from the prince will cause him to walk or run, depending on how far the stylus is from him. Jumping and somersaulting, fighting and blocking, all done by holding or tapping the touchscreen with the stylus, depending on the situation and what you're trying to accomplish. After a while, when teamed up with Zal, you can control both characters, but not in the typical way to switch between them. Instead, Zal will accompany the Prince and can use different types of magic that will help you bypass traps or eliminate certain enemies. While the Prince is controlled with the stylus alone, when you hold any other button, the stylus is then used to control Zal's powers.
