PoPoLoCrois is a retro-style cel-shaded isometric RPG. This PSP version is the first entry in the series to be released outside of Japan. It is a remake of the first two PoPoLoCrois titles for PlayStation, seamlessly reworked into a single game with various improvements. You play as 10-year-old Prince Pinon, who must find a way to save his sleeping stepmother and the entire kingdom from ancient evil.
As you play, you can choose different characters to form a party, each with a different personality and fighting style. Battles occur randomly and become semi-strategic and turn-based if you disable the default auto-battle option. Combat doesn't take you to a different screen; it simply sets a point in the background by moving it to a diagonal grid, where you'll move and fight the enemy. In these battles, there are many combat options, from special abilities to team attacks. Actions are based on an action gauge that fills up. The game can be saved manually or automatically.
