PLANET OF THE APES (PS1 PLAYSTATION)

Released around the same time as the remake (2001 Tim Burton) of the original film (1968 Franklin J. Schaffner), it nevertheless follows its own story within this framework. You are Odysseus, a human whose spaceship has crash-landed on a planet ruled by apes. When you're captured and prepped for "exam" you want to save your own skin, and luckily a merciful monkey gives you a chance to do just that. As a human, you have no tools, only your wits and a loincloth to avoid staring. The game is played from a third-person perspective, and you can meet certain characters and talk to them for information. Hand to hand combat ensues when you encounter a hostile monkey, obstacles must be overcome through thinking and some acrobatics.
