Pitball is a futuristic 2v2 sports game. The gameplay is a cross between Rollerball and Basketball. Players "fight" in an enclosed arena, for control of a floating orb, which they then pick up and throw into the opponent's goal.
Various power-ups are dropped into the arena during gameplay, which provide benefits to the player, such as extra speed, more accurate shooting, more power, and various bombs and landmines that can be used against the opponent.
Additionally, special orbs can be picked up, which can be constructed and then used to perform "special moves".
The game also allows the player to "manage" a team. The management part offers the player a multitude of options, including a comprehensive transfer market, to trade for better players and an equipment store to buy upgrades. The wins bring money, but the player can also bet on the outcome of the games to further increase his winnings. The player can also use money to bribe opponents before a big game, and they won't try so hard when they face you.
The game supports up to 4 players and is Multi-Tap compatible.
