Phantasy Star Portable 2 is the sequel to Phantasy Star Portable and most of the action RPG features are similar to its predecessor. The game takes place three years after the events of Phantasy Star Universe when the four races were defeated and sealed in the SEED. In this game, the player is part of the private military mercenary group Little Wing on Clad 6, a space colony.
Players can transfer their character from Phantasy Star Portable. The character will start over at level 1 and will have no items, but the game rewards you with several new features, such as an additional mode in which you can invite other online players to join you in your single-player story. It is also possible to design a new custom character. The gameplay itself consists of numerous small missions, which are activated through the story and the locations you travel to. The way photons are handled has been changed compared to the original. Photon points are now attached to characters instead of weapons, and photon charges have been completely removed.
