Twenty years after Pac-Man's first adventure in Pac-Land, Pac-Man returns to his house one day to find it deserted. Toc-Man and his ghosts have kidnapped Pac-Man's friends, Mrs. Pac-Man, Pac Jr., Baby Pac, Professor Pac, Pooka and Chomp-Chomp the dog! Pac-Man must venture into Toc-Man's lair on Ghost Island to save his friends!
Hidden throughout this 3D adventure game, Pac-Man faces challenging puzzles and games that have appeared in previous Pac-Man games. A lot of things in this game are a homage to the original games and even Inky, Blinky, Pinky and Clyde are back for another shot at Pac-Man.
There are several types of game modes available. The newest is Quest Mode. Pac-Man can maneuver up and down and left and right across the screen, but the camera is sideways and scrolls as Pac-Man navigates through all the stages of Ghost Island. The player must collect Pac-Dots, fruits, keys, etc. to advance through the level while defeating ghosts (by bouncing on them) and solving puzzles. Adventure game, the story progresses as you go through the levels with switches to find and chests to open. There is also a scoring system which encourages the player to collect as much as possible.
The other two types of modes are classic mode and maze mode. Classic mode is a 100% faithful conversion of the original Pac-Man game. Maze Mode is Classic Pac-Man gameplay translated into a 3D environment. All Pac-Pellets, Ghosts, Walls and Pac-Man are displayed in 3D.
