Inspired by the classic Ghost in the Shell anime series by Shirow Masamune, the gameplay is a mix between a generic third-person shooter and a classic beat 'em up. While Konoko has several melee acrobatic moves at her disposal (with more unlocked as the player progresses), she can also find weapons in levels, and the decision to go armed or bare knuckle depends only on the player. Each weapon fires either from ballistic clips or energy cells, with the number of rounds in each clip depending on the weapon: a Black Adder (a short one-handed machine gun like an Uzi) can get 30 rounds from a ballistic clip, while a Mercury Bow (a scopeless railgun sniper) only two.
