NHL 2K8 is an episode of 2K Sports' annual hockey series. The player can control any of the 30 NHL teams and lead them to Stanley Cup glory in Franchise or Season mode, or just play them in simple exhibition games.
Franchise mode has been expanded, allowing for more team control in the offseason (such as improvements in the draft and in negotiations), as well as adjustments to player progression and other changes to improve realism from NHL post-lockout management - waivers, salary cap management, free agents and more. On the ice, while the game remains virtually unchanged, the new Superstar Moves bring a spark of world-class hockey to the game, especially on breakaways and shots on goal.
