NBA Basketball is a very basic basketball game. Although officially licensed by the NBA, the game does not contain any team names or actual players. There are only two teams, a home team and a visiting team. The home team is red and the away team is green.
The game is shown from a side angle with team baskets on the left and right sides of the screen. The characters come alive when running and when dribbling the basketball. The "floor" has a basic basketball setup, including the halfway line and free throw lines.
NBA Basketball is a two-player (only) game and features four quarterbacks, passing, blocking, and jumping. There is even overtime if it becomes necessary.
The title screen only says "Basketball", but the box and game cartridge bear the NBA emblem and "NBA Basketball".
