NBA 08 presents the third volume of the "The Life" series, which concludes and revolves around a coach named "Coach T" as his career comes to an end. The player takes control of a player for Coach T. with the ability to choose from five different characters based on the position they wish to play or create their own with 60 different scenarios to participate in.

The game follows a realistic basketball vision by attending press conferences, signing endorsements, and interacting with other players, coaches, and rivals. Decisions determine whether the player is perceived as a team player or a lone troublemaker. Depending on their player's performance during matches, they can receive attribute points to strengthen their players.
