In Mimana Iyar Chronicle, players take on the role of Crais Sewell, an antisocial, drunken and unemployed swordsman. As he loses his last pennies and goes into huge debt with the Mercenary Guild, he is offered a chance to repay his debt, by offering his services as a bodyguard to a little girl known as Sophie, who wants to find seven gems scattered around the world. Enter a few dungeons, smash a few pots, hit a few gelatinous cubes, find the gems, how hard can it be? While the main exploration portion of the game takes place in an isometric view, the random encounters the party will face take place in a side-scrolling panel. While the player controls Crais directly, in real time, the behavior of the other party member can be adjusted via menus. Chaining combos together can put Crais into Just Attack mode, where each attack deals critical damage.
