The Weasels kidnapped Pluto while he was wearing his diamond necklace! All that remained of him was a ransom note showing the weasels chasing him in a van. Mickey gathers all his friends (and even Pete wants in on the action!), and Professor Von Drake prepares their race cars so they can catch up with the Weasels as they go on tour across the country. UNITED STATES. The Weasels also stole four parts of the professor's top-secret pilot and hid them in four of the tracks. Once players have found all of these coins, they can catch up with the weasels in the final showdown.
Mickey's Speedway USA is a kart racer from Rare based on the Diddy Kong Racing game engine. Players compete in circuits of four races, grand prix style, and the player with the most points at the end of the four races wins the gold trophy. There are six initial runners, but only three sets of stats shared between them. Minnie and Daisy are light and good for starters, Mickey and Donald are both versatile characters, while Pete and Goofy are the slow but fast heavy hitters.
The game features an assortment of pickups - there's the Carbo Spritzer, a soda turbo; the Paint Splotcher, which launches a sliding blob of paint on the track; the Baseball Chucker, which launches an explosive baseball down the track; and the Magno Flyer, which sends out a remote-controlled aircraft to search for the nearest opponent, to name a few. There are also "Oomph Tokens" scattered around the track - the first ten of these tokens increase your racer's top speed a bit.
In addition to the main game, Mickey's Speedway USA also features a Time Trial mode (where you race against the clock), a Practice mode (where you can drive all around a farm course to practice your skills), and a Contest mode (which works like Mario Kart 64's famous Battle Mode - players must pop all three of their opponents' balloons before they lose all of theirs). The game is also Transfer Pak compatible with the Game Boy Color version of Mickey's Speedway USA.
