Mario Kart DS (Mario Kāto Dī Esu?) is a racing video game developed by Nintendo EAD and published by Nintendo. The game was released for the Nintendo DS in November 2005 in North America, Australia and Europe and on December 8, 2005 in Japan. It is the fifth installment in the Mario Kart series and the first to be playable via the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection online game service. Like other games in the series, Mario Kart DS features the main characters of the Super Mario universe and pits them against each other in kart races on circuits located in the different locations of the Mushroom Kingdom.
