Mario Kart 64 (Mario Kāto Rokujūyon?) is a 3D karting racing video game developed and published by Nintendo in 1996 for the Nintendo 64. The second episode of the famous Mario Kart series, it was noted for its multiplayer mode allowing , for the first time, up to four players on the same console, and received resounding critical and commercial success: one million copies of the game were sold in the first six weeks after its release. The game has sold 9.9 million copies worldwide.
