LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars is based on the Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated television series. As usual, the game retells scenes from the original while replacing everything and everyone with LEGO bricks. It also brings humor into play; mostly slapstick and often based on the fact that LEGO constructions are fragile.
Just like the predecessors, this game is built around the three cooperative campaigns. Players choose one of many Star Wars characters to race through levels. These consist of lots of action-based combat, platforming and puzzles, which require the cooperation of both characters. The game is played alone; then the AI picks up the second character.
