Witches were once hidden protectors, guiding humanity through their darkness, hidden in the shadows. But mankind, not understanding their purpose, discovered them, persecuted them and executed them. Those who remain wish only to destroy humanity. Only one witch, Gretchen, still wishes to help humanity. The only way left is to stop the other witches by any means necessary.

Another, a man named Heinrich, was once an executioner, carrying out his dark task in the darkest days of the witch hunt. As such, he found himself cursed with immortality. To atone for his actions, he concludes a blood contract, the contract of the knight, with Gretchen, sworn to protect her. In return, he will be freed from his sufferings once their task is completed.

Knights Contract is a 3D hack and slash with a twist: the player character, Heinrich, can't die -- if he takes too much damage, he'll literally crumble and have to pull himself together -- but his partner, the witch Gretchen, is still deadly and must be protected. Heinrich himself wields a large scythe with a wide variety of deadly moves, and he can also call on Gretchen to help him with several different magic spells. Heinrich can acquire additional gear during gameplay, while Gretchen's magic can be upgraded using souls acquired from defeating enemies.
