The adorable Kirby returns to Game Boy! This time the bridges connecting the Rainbow Bridges are gone and King Dedede is to blame as always... or is he? The evil Dark Matter has it under its control and plans to turn Dream Land into a dark world. Kirby's goal is to obtain the legendary Rainbow Sword and defeat him!
The gameplay consists of a platform game. Kirby is unlike any other platformer character of his era as he can fly without bonuses, and he can swallow enemies and gain their powers. On top of that, Kirby can now team up with his friends: Rick the hamster, Kine the fish and Coo the owl. Each team has its pros and cons, but Kirby can still swallow enemies, making more different powers available depending on the power/friend combination.
