Primarily based on the 2008 film Iron Man, this one-man army hero video game was released on seven different platforms.
The Iron Man game puts you in the shoes of Tony Stark. He's a billionaire arms manufacturer and genius inventor who, after being kidnapped by terrorists who want to force him to make weapons for them, builds a suit of armor to escape. Since then, he has decided to stop producing weapons and continues to work on the suit to fight them.
The games take the story further, giving the player the opportunity to play through more than 12 different missions and even fight villains that don't appear in the film, such as Whiplash and Titanium Man. All of this is shown through cutscenes between each mission and features the voices of actors from the film, such as Robert Downey Jr. and Terrence Howard.
On foot or by plane, with the first armor at the beginning and in the characteristic red and gold costume later, using ranged weapons or melee attacks, the game features Stark fighting with armies of soldiers, tanks, helicopters, cannons, etc. with the help of an array of upgradeable weapons like missiles, micro-grenades, repulsor shots, EMP blasts, a flamethrower and the powerful "Unibeam". Both the weapons and the suit (propulsion and armor systems) are upgradeable, and there are many special armors from the comics to unlock in most versions.
The differences between this version and the Xbox 360/PS3 version consist of altered visuals and a modified upgrade system (rather than spending money on them, the player's equipment is upgraded based on its use).
