Import Tuner Challenge is the next iteration of the long-running Tokyo Xtreme Racer series (1, 2, Zero, 3). The gameplay remains almost identical, but with improved graphics and 720p HD support. Players race on the highways around Tokyo. Cars are purchased and customized with parts that affect the cars handling, appearance, and power. Cars are mostly centered in Japan or imported for the US market. Vehicle customizations include body kits, nitrous, neons, interior gauges, roll bars, seats, overhangs for your rearview mirror, and many other performance upgrades to the suspension, engine, transmission and other transmission upgrades. The courses and regions you drive and race on are based on real-world locations and other rivals can be found both on the courses and at rest areas around Tokyo. Some rivals require certain add-ons to be on your vehicle, or your vehicle to be configured a certain way, or your garage or wallet to be at a certain point before deeming you worthy of a challenge.
