Hero's Saga: Laevatein Tactics is a 2D fantasy-themed tactical role-playing game played from a bird's eye view. It takes place on the fictional continent of Yulanecca and begins with young Prince Ernesto (or whatever name the player chooses) of Valencia receiving a mighty blade to defeat an undead host besieging a border fortress.
The player must move their hero around the map on a turn-based grid. By doing so, they can occupy bases on said map and attack enemy units if they are within range. For these enemy encounters, the game will enter a battle mode in which the hero and his army must defeat the opposing army. The possible actions during combat are attack, charge, defense or phalanx. Lost forces can be replenished in a fortress.
