One of many different games based on the first Harry Potter book and film, the version for PlayStation is a three-dimensional action adventure.
To complete his first year of study at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and foil the plans of the evil Lord Voldemort, Harry must overcome a number of challenges. These include platforming sequences, made easy as Harry automatically jumps when he reaches the edges. There are fight scenes, where Harry has to knock down or knock enemies away. Some challenges require the player to solve puzzles. Harry can use five different spells, which must first be learned in class. Successful completion of tasks often results in house points for Harry Gryffindor's house; failure of certain points withdraws so the race for the House Cup can remain open until the end.
There is also a flying broom in the game, both in Quidditch matches, where Harry must catch the Snitch by flying through the rings it leaves behind, and on other occasions, such as chase Draco Malfoy and knock him off his broom.
