Halo: Combat Evolved is a first-person shooter (or FPS) video game developed by Bungie and published by Microsoft Game Studios. This is the first episode of the Halo series. It was released alongside the Xbox console, on November 15, 2001 in the United States and March 14, 2002 in Europe. With over five million copies sold worldwide as of November 9, 2005, Halo is considered a worldwide success, receiving critical acclaim and receiving numerous awards.

A high-definition re-release of Halo: Combat Evolved was developed by 343 Industries with collaboration from Certain Affinity and Saber Interactive for the Xbox 3604 console. It was released for the 10th anniversary of the first episode on November 15, 2011.
