.HACK//INFECTION PART 1 PLAYSTATION 2 PS2

.hack//INFECTION is the first in a four-part game series. It's a single-player adventure/rpg game that "simulates" an MMORPG (EverQuest, Ultima On-line) in which you play as the character Kite. You can get the addresses of other characters' members and attempt to call them in-game to see if they're online to join you on a quest. Like standard MMORPG games, it has LOTS of side quests, lots of weapons and armor, a system for exchanging gear among other characters, and the ability to move between different servers. You also have message and email boards to communicate with other "players". Once you finish the game you can still continue to play and improve your character and your character can upgrade to the second game .hack//Mutation (May 2003).
