Once, an isolated island continent was plunged into war. People who wanted to end the war revived a powerful weapon called "Admonisher" and threatened the participants in the war with it. Thus, all wars ended by force. The people behind it called themselves the "Peacekeeping Brigade". 20 years later the old people of the Brigade are no longer able to keep the peace.
Today, war has again broken out between the inhabitants of the mainland. A mysterious famine has arisen, leaving citizens to fight for what little fertile land remains, while cities are constantly attacked by ferocious amphibious monsters called "Screapers".
Battles take place in real time and there is no transition to a separate battle map (typically found in traditional Japanese RPGs). As such, the game forces players to come up with strategies and tactics immediately when the situation calls for it.
