In Great Ice Hockey, you have to use the Sega Sports Pad to play the game. You have to stroke the roller to try to pass, skate, shoot and score! The team that finishes with the most goals at the end of regulation time wins.
The game is played like a regular hockey game. Two difficulty levels (junior and senior) are an option for amateur or more experienced players. The player is assigned to the USA hockey team and can then choose from a number of other opponents from different countries.
