Grand Theft Auto IV, commonly abbreviated as GTA IV, is an open-world, action-adventure video game developed by Rockstar North and published by Rockstar Games. It was originally released on April 29, 2008 for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles in North America, Europe, and Oceania. It was then released on Microsoft Windows (PC) on October 2, 2008 in North America and then on December 3 in Europe, while the Xbox 360 version has been backward compatible on Xbox One since February 9, 2017. The game is the first part of the Grand Theft Auto series entirely in high definition, the fourth major installment and the eleventh episode in order of appearance, succeeding Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories released in 2006.

Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City is an independent compilation of downloadable content from the 2008 video game Grand Theft Auto IV. Created by Rockstar North in the UK, the game combines the two expansions Grand Theft Auto: The Lost and Damned, and Grand Theft Auto: The Ballad of Gay Tony3. Grand Theft Auto: Episodes From Liberty City was released on October 29, 2009 for the Xbox 360 console and April 13, 2010 for Microsoft Windows and PlayStation 3 (PS3).
