Grand Theft Auto III (often abbreviated as GTA III) is an open-world action-adventure video game made by Rockstar Games and developed by DMA Design studio. It is the third major installment as well as the fifth game in the Grand Theft Auto series and stands out from the first episodes with the appearance of a 3D engine. It was released in October 2001 on PlayStation 2, in May 2002 on PC, in November 2003 on Xbox, in 2010 on OS X, in 2011 on iOS and Android mobiles, then in 2012 on PlayStation 3 (PlayStation Network).
