Grand Slam Baseball was an innovative, albeit relatively low-key, release from Virgin Interactive Entertainment in 1997.
Not known for sports games, VIE released Grand Slam for Windows, Sony Playstation, and Sega Saturn as a second title in its attempt to establish a mainstream sports line. The short-lived line's first title was Power Play Hockey in 1996. The sports line would only last for one more title after the release of Grand Slam, which was the sequel to the hockey game, also released in 1997.
Grand Slam was an early adopter of 3D accelerator card technology and also offered full 3D gameplay in software only. The Playstation and Saturn versions were 3D by default.
